Matt Taylor

Matt Taylor, Company Co-Founder (now retired)
Matt started his career in the hospitality industry, working at The Abbey, The Palmer House and the Pick-Congress Hotel where he met his future wife, Nancy. When they were ready to start a family Matt transitioned from hospitality – which is notoriously inhospitable to spending time with family – and took a job with Nancy’s uncle in the office equipment industry. A few years later, in 1972, Matt and Nancy opened Taylor Business Equipment with a mission to bring family-oriented service and attention to detail to the Chicagoland business market. A tireless volunteer, Matt has been an active member of the Mt. Carmel Alumni Association for over 50 years and was named to their Hall of Fame in 1982, named their Humanitarian of the Year in 2007 and received Mt. Carmel’s highest honor – Man of the Year – at his 60th high school reunion in 2017. Matt spent over 35 years volunteering with the Maple/Morgan Park Community Food Pantry, with over 30 of those years spent as the Pantry’s President, and was entered into the City of Chicago Senior Citizens Hall of Fame for his efforts. Health issues forced Matt’s retirement from the Pantry in 2015, but that was not going to slow him down one bit. Now that he has recovered, Matt dedicates his time to Lary’s Speakeasy, a support group for those who have lost their larynx and voicebox, greatly affecting their ability to speak. During his time in the office equipment industry, Matt served in the officer roles for the local and regional affiliates of the Business Technology Association (BTA).
